Nach dem vollständigen Entladen des Hauptakkus ist zwar damit kein „normaler Betrieb“ mehr möglich, die Batterie versorgt aber den RAM-Speicher weiterhin mit Strom und sichert somit über eine längere Zeit alle dort gespeicherten Daten. Um zu vermeiden, dass sich diese ebenfalls früher oder später entleert, wird sie beim normalen Ladevorgang oder durch den Hauptakku immer wieder aufgeladen.

Blimey it's small - I really was expecting something a lot bigger.
Seems solidly built - a nicely engineered piece of equipment.
Touch screen is awesome, really good. I can text as quick as I did on my old phone. Very responsive and you always seem to hit what you want to hit. I'm now convinced by touchscreen technology.
The camera is really impressive, the photos look great, and the videos are really impressive for a phone.
You can set the photo viewer so the photos look like playing cards spread out on a table and you click each one.

Synced with MS Outlook effortlessly on my PC - all my contacts and details added in seconds.
Multiple numbered boxes in the 'To' section of messages to add many recipients is very well set out, much easier.

You can't change your browser HOME page from the O2 one (maybe network dependent)
The stylus is external. Why? I don't think I would ever use it anyway as it's fine with your fingers but who would carry it round on the wriststrap - seems like an afterthought.
Shortcut menu doesn't seem customisable from what I've seen - why?
2Gb limit on memory card size.
You can't use headphones and charge at the same time. No good for late night viewing unless you've got a full battery.

Bei einem Handy muß man natürlich immer einen Kompromiss eingehen.
Am schönsten wäre es ja man würde einen CCD Sensor verwenden, der dann aber viel Teurer, viel Größer und viel mehr Strom verbrauchen würde.
Auch das Objektiv müßte viel größer werden und das Handy würde dadurch unverhältnismäßig aufblähen.
Ich finde die Bilder gut und sie sind um einiges besser als das was ich vom K850i kenne, und das ist ja auch ein Kamerahandy.
Natürlich sind die Resultate nicht für Poster geeignet, aber für normale Abzüge beim Fotoheinz sind sie Perfekt.

Wenns zu lange dauert dann greif ich halt zu einem Französichen Gerät.

Es gibt einige ältere Handys bei LG für die hab ich schonmal Software Updates gesehen.
Beim Prada ist es aber so das man das Gerät kostenlos zu einer Service Adresse hier in Deutschland einschickt und binnen 3-4 Tagen schon wieder zurück erhält.
Wie das beim KU990 nun allerdings ist weiß man erst wenn LG ein Update für das Gerät anbietet, oder ebent nicht.

Ja so stand es in einem Blog aber da das KU990 bei T-Mobile, Vodafone und O2 erscheint so ist diese erklärung nicht schlüssig.

the packaging is excellent. feels luxurious without being in your face crass. black box, nice detailing.

bloody hell the screen is gorgeous.

the touch screen is great. love it, very responsive and the little "buzz" when you touch it gives excellent feedback. having come from xda's, the touch screen is nice, good response but not as 'quick' as HTC's but I adjusted very quickly.

branding. small white 3 logo on the camera side of the casing. software wise a nice animated big 3 when it starts and shuts down.

the interface is good, logically laid out. again, not as quick as SE or HTC phones but all the same, I'm not disappointed by it.

camera. big surprise here. a lot of the pre release reviews mentioned lack of macro. et voila, it has macro mode and bloody good it is too. took a picture of the stylus up close and it focused well.

camera overall not really prone to camera shake. it also has red eye reduction as well as the flash.

bought it at 5.15pm. by 8.15pm the sim was active and able to make calls.

software to the PC, very good. quick install under XP, the machine found the phone straight away and it appears as a device on your list of drives. haven't got a memory card yet so can't comment on that. using the LG suite to transfer music to the phones internal memory was a snap. nice program, very easy to use and figure out, all drag and drop.

headphones. good. nice crisp sound. spare felts for your ears provided as well which is a nice touch.

the link port is hidden behind a sliding door, neat, stops crud getting on the pins.

the jog wheel I really like. easy, simple. no problem taking pictures etc. so far anyway.

the 3 themes provided are good. crisp graphics, good readable text. the standard default is like windows vista, dark, grey and shaded with blue icons. very nice. very fitting with the look of the phone. the silver and fish themes are okay, but too bright for me.

bad:

stylus storage
no pouch
no external volume control.
taking picture of yourself not easy.

no external volume control like there is on my 810i so if I wanna turn the volume down, unless I got the headphones plugged in I gotta use the screen interface. external side control would have been good to have.

nowhere to put the stylus in the phone body. dumb, but it is slim and there probably isn't much spare room. so the stylus is an external item. nice, well designed, but I can't help thinking it could have been made utlra slim, almost tooth pick like in size (and I mean ****tail stick thin) to fit into the casing.

no pouch or carry case in the box. even a cheap one would have done to stop it from scuffing. my sock hasn't arrived yet. I'm hoping a LG case for the shine will fit the U990, they're about the same size.

no little half circle of polished chrome on the casing for when you have the camera pointed at yourself to see your own mush and get yourself in shot properly.

you can't have someones picture on their contact to flash up when they call you. shame. I'd have thought that would be a standard feature by now.

overall.

very impressed with the phone in the first two hours.
does what I want. the camera is great,the music playback adequate. not as good as the 810i, but then again it isn't being touted as a walkman phone so I'll give them that.
the screen and touch aspects are easy and enjoyable. it can be used easily without the stylus by using your finger or fingertip.

further impressions after a day of use.

whoever said the battery was poor hmmm.... I've been playing mp3's on it today for about 5 hours and the battery is still showing at least 50%. 15 mins calling, a bit of game play. so I'm happy with that. My 810i would have surrendered by now after 5 hours music playback.

I think a lot of the negativity with this phone has come from the mags etc reviewing pre release models. one review said the back was plasticky and delicate like it could snap. really? feels pretty solid to me. BTW, with 3 the game is not space commando. it's some stupid duel thing and its not even the full game but a demo of a game you have to buy to upgrade. bollocks to that.

the screen is fine, I've had no problems with it all day.

the jog wheel is odd, but then I like odd and find using it is okay. might not be to everyones taste but it is perfectly useable.

haven't really delved into the guts of this yet but what I have used so far is good. now if the mags can get off their duffs and review a release item, this could be a big big seller for LG.
