PalmSource in Talks with Sony Ericsson

PalmSource and Sony Ericsson are discussing the possibility of the mobile phone company releasing devices running the Palm OS.

In an interview last spring with AlwaysOn, the CEO of Sony admitted he wasn't terribly happy with the arrangement his company has with Ericsson to make smart phones running the Symbian OS.

Nobuyuki Idei, Chairman and CEO of Sony, said, "In terms of our OS strategy, it is not clear whether Symbian ... is the right way to go for the mobile phone. And I can't tell you why Sony has a Symbian OS on its phones and Palm OS on its PDAs. Even Bill Gates asked me if I was crazy."

Earlier this week, David Nagel, the CEO of PalmSource, mentioned in an interview with Dow Jones that his company is in talks with Sony Ericsson. However, he didn't give any details. Still, it is a sign that there may yet be Sony Ericsson smart phones running the Palm OS from this partnership.

Five years ago, a group of companies got together to found Symbian to develop and licence the Symbian OS. However, some cracks have recently emerged in the partnership. For example, Motorola, one of the founders, announced last month it will sell its share of the Symbian partnership to two others members.

At the same time, PalmSource will become an independent company at the end of this month and is aggressively looking for new licensees to increase its revenue.

Würd mir ziemlich gefallen. Fand ja bisher das Samsung sgh-i 500 oder 505 erstrebenswert. Aber so.............................

habe ich inzwischen leider auch feststellen muessen. Das Vorgehen von E-Plus war mir neu. Trägt leider nicht viel zum Wettbewerb bei. Naja, aber was soll's.

Interessiert bin ich an:

T610 (kostet bei Eplus direkt 129€) oder
Tungsten C (kann das überhaupt wer anbieten)!

Gibt es einen aktuellen Preis für das T 610 mit E-Plus Prof S. VVL?
Ändert sich was, wenn ich den GPRS-Tarif dazunehmen (irgendwas mit 2,50 grundgebühr ???) ?

Meine erstes R520 hatte auch den Weckerbug. Habe es dann eingeschickt. Zuerst sollte es gegen ein t39 getauscht weden. Plötzlich bekam ich jedoch tatsächlich ein R520 (silbern), welches bisher super funktioniert. Habe seitdem keine Probs mehr. Mir ist allerdings aufgefallen, dass die Freisprechf. bzw. der Sensor nicht mir aktiviertem Infrarot funktionieren. Sprich ich muss infr. immer erst deaktivieren. Ich habe leider keine Ahnung, ob das nicht schon immer so war, aber vielleicht isses ja hilfreich.

Habe ich gerade unter http://www.sony-ericsson.com gefunden. Kann mir jemand sagen, was das für ein Gerät ist. Habe kurz die Suche benutzt, aber nichts gefunden. Könnte das das CDMA-Gerät sein, halt nur für die GSM-Netze?

Wenn ich schon mal dabei bin, kann ich auch meine nächsten Fragen posten.
Ich überlge, mit rum t68 ein p800 zuzulegen. Dabei stellen sich mir jedoch diverse fragen:

- Hat jemand Erfahrung mit der Syn.-Software des P800 und von Palm auf einem Rechner? Laufen Beide?

- Funzt das ganze auch mit zusätzlicher XTND Connect Soft aud demselben Rechner?

- Kann man auch andere Geräte in der Ladestation des P800 aufladen und syncen?

Warum ist der Datenagleich mit Outlook über xtndconnect und bluetooth bei SE eigentlich so kompliziert. Ich habe neben dem t68 einen Palm tt. Bei dem brauche ich, solange der Rechner eingeschaltet ist, nur innerhalb der Reichweite auf dem palm den Sync-Vorgang starten. Ich muss also mich nicht erst an den Rechner setzen. Finde ich wesentlich praktischer als bei SE. Oder geht das da etwa auch und ich habe etwas übersehen.

Hallo allerseits,

suche jemanden, der mir einen E-Plus prof. Vertrag verlängert. Am liebsten mit einem t68 i/mineral grey oder t68/grau.

Vielleicht wisst ihr ja auch, wer - ausser Eplus selber natuerlich - E-plus Verträge verlängert.
