    ASUS is planning to release two Pocket PC models in 2004. The MyPal A8100 will be a Phone Edition device, while the My Pal A716 will offer both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.


    My Pal A8100 will be on the edge between a smart phone and a cellular-wireless handheld. It will run the Phone Edition of Windows Mobile 2003 but will include a hardware keypad like a smart phone. Its general shape is reminicent of the Sony Ericsson P900, with the keypad on a hinge that can be swiveled aside to reveal the full 240-by-320 pixel screen.

    It appears that this model will include Bluetooth short-range wireless networking and it will almost certainly have an SD/MMC slot.


    Unfortunately, no other details are available on this model at this time, including how big it is. Over the summer, Microsoft released some of its hardware restrictions on Pocket PCs, include one on how big the screen has to be. Therefore, it's possible this model will be smaller than it first appears.


    The My Pal A716 will be a more traditional handheld. It will run Windows Mobile 2003 on a 400 MHz XScale PXA255 processor. It will have 64MB of RAM, of which 58 MB is available to the user.

    It will be the first model from ASUS to offer both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking. In addition, the A716 will include an SD/MMC slot and a CompactFlash slot.


    This handheld will be 5.3 inches long, 3.0 inches wide, and 0.7 inches thick. It will weigh 6.2 ounces.


    It is not known exactly when either of these models will be released, other than sometime next year. While ASUS handhelds aren't generally widely available in the U.S., a few online stores do carry them. However, the fact that the MyPal A8100 is a cellular-wireless device might present problems, as wireless service providers prefer to approve all the handsets that are used on their networks. In addition, both of these models will require FCC approval.

    Kann mir nur vorstellen das es ein Proto ist. Wenn ich mich recht erinnere hat "Sendosprecher" damals gesagt das Sendo alle ausgegebenen Protos zurück gefordert hat. Denke nicht das die Sache mit der Auktion hier sehr legal ist.
