ZitatStiftung Warentest, a consumer testing organization in Germany, recently reported finding the presence of DEHP in amounts over the allowable limit in two UP by Jawbone® activity tracker wristbands. DEHP, which is an abbreviation for Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, is a manufactured chemical compound used as a plasticizer (softener) that is commonly added to plastics to make them flexible.
Jawbone® responds that it tests its activity tracker wristbands to meet the European Union’s environmental regulations, such as REACH (EC 1907/2006 - Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals). Prior to release in the EU, an independent accredited lab tested the UP2™ and UP3™ activity trackers for regulatory compliance with DEHP, among numerous other regulated substances. The lab, SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd, reported that the UP2™ and UP3™ activity trackers passed REACH regulations for any phthalates, including DEHP. Furthermore, a second independent lab, TÜV SÜD, screened the UP3™ activity tracker wristband in September 2015 against the most common chemicals, including DEHP. TÜV SÜD similarly reported that the UP3™ activity tracker wristband is in compliance with regulations for DEHP.
Jawbone recognizes the concern caused by the Stiftung Warentest test results and takes health and safety very seriously. Jawbone is working to understand why Stiftung Warentest’s test results differ from the findings of SGS and TÜV SÜD.
Kann man das Teil nun bedenkenlos weiter nutzen? Habe ja keine Rechnung dafür und kann somit auch nichts zurück geben.
