    Nokia 6230i – business segment from Nokia is regenerating

    During the last it has became a tradition that information about Nokia leaked long before its official announcement. This time one of Asian sites published photo of Nokia 6230i, though the index of this model was mistakenly written as 6300 (this series will appear only in 2005 and have no similarities with the device on the photo). Then this information appeared in many forums and websites. Let’s look what this novelty will bring to users and how it will influence the mobile phone market.

    The design of Nokia 6230i is almost identical to its predecessor. Do not pay attention to the color of the body, for sure it will be different and more pretty to emphasis the differences between the old and new models. The phone has the same height in spite of the other screen. The new display is still capable to support 65000 colors, but it has the resolution of 128*160 pixels (27.5õ34.5 mm). So, the main defect of the Nokia 6230 – the small screen, is improved in the new model. In our opinion the keypad has an average ergonomics and functions pretty well, the phone is convenient in everyday life.

    The second improvement, which deserves our attention, is appearance of the second speaker on the right side of the phone. Probably the manufacturer tried to realize stereo sound in the phone. Unfortunately we couldn’t listen to stereo sound because speakers had a rather strange position. But the second speaker (on the right side) is not covered (when the phone is an holster) and it increases volume of the ringtones. It’s a real improvement of the construction.

    The third and the main improvement is 1Mgpixel camera in the phone. The quality of photos is comparable to Nokia 7610. On the contrast to Nokia 6230 shutter does not cover the camera lens. Limits to record large video clips were widen to 16Mb (it was 4Mb in Nokia 6230 if I am not mistaken). Video clips look better on the new screen, but there is no considerable improvement of the picture.

    We can also say about such new function as effects. It’s a pity that the set of effects was too small in the last phones from Nokia. This lack is improved in Nokia 6230i. I forgot to say earlier that the maximum images resolution is 1280*960 pixels.

    It’s obvious that any taken picture can be used as wallpaper for the screen. But it’s more interesting to set themes. This function is similar to functions from Sony Ericsson. Free utility to create themes has been already available on Nokia’s website. Probably you’ve guessed that you could create these themes by yourself. It is a considerable improvement compared to other models. Animated pictures can be also used as wallpaper.

    On the whole there are several pretty things in the interface of the phone: white background while dialing the number, pop-up windows for different events (on the light background), animated icons in the menu (when it is presented as Grid). I think that the company eliminated its previous small mistakes and the phone became nicer. Application of the new features also caused a few errors, today we can’t say that the phone functions ideal, but we hope that all bugs will be corrected until the phone entered the mass market.

    Some improvements are Java concerned. The phone supported 3D technology, which is demonstrated by preinstalled Chess Puzzle 3d. Max download size is 512 kB per application that is enough for even the most exacting user.

    Now a few words about weak points of the Nokia 6230i. Hot swap is not available for memory cards. Capabilities of mp3-player were not widen, it remains rather simple. As in the previous model player functions and Audio gallery are still doubled. Memory volume is 32 Mb, but there are limits to record mp3-files in the inside memory. The phone warns about error if you try to record more than 10 Mb. Battery life was reduced by 15%. Now the phone worked about 2 days in case of rather active usage, it can’t work during 3 days. May be it is presumed that the phone will have PTT support, if look on one menu item, but we couldn’t find any information about it, may be it is just a rudiment of this firmware.

    Nokia 6230i is pretended to be the best phone of the autumn 2004 in its segment. It will appear a bit later than Siemens S65, but will have better screen quality (in our opinion Nokia 6230i has better color rendering), similar features and mp3-player support. The price of Nokia 6230i will be about 500 USD in November, by Christmas it will go down till 430-440 USD. Nokia 6230 will remain on the market till the end of the year and its price will be a little bit lower. The aim of Nokia 6230i is to attract those who were waiting for the replacement of Nokia 6310i and didn’t buy Nokia 6230. I really regret that users of Nokia 6230 paid much money and purchased only an intermediate version of the phone. It was one of the first ones in its class, may be the best one, but had many small unpleasant problems. Full specifications of Nokia 6230i you can see below.

    wenn ich versuche von usb hd zu booten kommt der auswahlscreen (win xp/win 2k), wenn ich da xp auswähle dann sehe ich für ungefähr ein-zwei sekunden wie xp startet also halt das logo mit dem balken drunter ihr wisst was ich meine, und dann rebootet es von allein, es scheint eine endlosschlaufe zu sein. bei abgesichertem modus kommt nur ein blackscreen und ich kann nur durch manuelles ausschalten des pc wieder da rauskommen.

    wenn ich win2k auswähle, dann kommt ein blue screen "STOP Ox0000007B INACCESIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE if this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow this steps:
    check for viruses on your pc. Remove any newly installed harddisk or harddisk controller. Check your harddisk to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK/F to check for harddisk corruption, and then restart pc."

    aus welchem grund auch immer, vielleicht ist es auch meine schuld, es ist das erste mal das ich mit acronis so weit komme, wurden die laufwerksbuchstaben etwas komisch zugeordnet, wie folgt:

    alte festplatte->neue festplatte:

    c: -> j:
    d: -> h:
    e: -> i:
    f: -> k:

    kann das bootproblem vielleich daher rühren? wenn ja, wie kann ich es beheben?

    bin für jeden hinweis dankbar :top:
